This tiny deer was delivered by Caesarean section at a wildlife hospital after his mother was killed by a car.

Little Rupert, who is so small he can fit in an adult's hand, was born after vets failed in their battle to save his mother.

At just six inches tall and weighing just over a pound, he is now in an incubator in the

intensive care unit at Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital in Buckinghamshire.

He has only recently opened his eyes.

Les Stocker, founder of Tiggywinkles, said: 'Rupert's mother had very severe injuries.

We brought him out and got him breathing and then he went into an incubator on oxygen.

He is now being fed by a tube.'

That is a tiny critter. Would be cool if he survives.

Feel good story.  sounds like a waste of money to me though. Incubating a deer fawn. The dnr in mn feels like we cant kill enough and they hospitalize them there.

the hospital that the fawn is at is in England, so the MN DNR has no casts associated with it.

I hear you Bufflehead, but I bet a lot of the money is donated. I have a soft heart for animals and kids. To me, that's about all that can't take care of themselves. I worked at the Wildlife Rescue Center in Roseville a few years back (Before I had kids) and would feed babie squirrels and rabbits with serenges. Yea I know, too many sqirrels and rabbits already, but it was a cool experience for a summer. Want to get my daughters doing that soon. My time was donated, the food was donated and what they pay for comes from donated money.

Now, kids should come first to spend money on, some donate to both. I can't see sinking tons of money on these types of things, but with volunteers, it really doesn't cost much to rescue animals.
