:help:So my buddy and I are trying to remember a lake we used to fish right after ice out for crappies that was just west of albertville 10 or 15 minutes or so.  Maybe you guys can help out.

I remember the lake had a really crappy launch!!
It was quite popular, alot of boats in this little bay right off the launch so its not a secret.

lots of cattails around the lake.

Does this sound like pelican??

I heard a couple people say its cotton or cottonwood but there isnt anything on any maps showin that...
A little help guys???? :help:

Pelican is one of the busier panfish lakes right now in that area. There are alot of big gills and crappies in there.

I have ice fished Pelican (good sized cropies) but never open water. It also has a new launch just down from the new one off of county road 117

The new launch is just a parking lot. You can access the lake by foot from it but there is a log fence all the way around it so you can access with a motorized vehcile.

I was out yesterday and tried a new spot (1/2 mile from anyone) and didn't find anything. I drove anywhere I wanted with four wheel drive and never found any slush. There weren't any weeds and that was most likely why there weren't any fish? I drilled a lot of holes from 11.5 to 7.5 feet, but I did have a guy come and fish 30 yards from me even though there weren't any old holes in the area. He mush have thought I looked cute of something? :rotflmao:

I went out on pelican yesterday... with little luck. A guy in the group caught 2 smaller crappies and a keeper sunny. That was about it.

Yeah there were quite a few people. It is a pretty big lake with a lot of different shanty towns. I used to catch huge sunnies out of that lake... not so much luck this year.

Did anyone hear of the possibility of libertarian type fishing on Pelican?  I heard from some good sorces that the O2 level was very low, and it WILL freeze out this winter.

Didn't hear much of that, well went out today, arrived there about 2ish, watched a couple people nail some northerns in the shallows on the west end of the lake, I ventured around, caught a few nice sunnies early on, then around five I caught a nice stringer of crappies.  Weekends out there are not good.  Lots and lots of traffic.  Ice is really good pushing 30 inches.
