I finished my honey-dew list yesterday so I was able to go and wet a line with my dad today.  The flag closest to the truck went up and I had told dad that he had the 2 tip-ups that were the closest.  As he was getting out of the truck he told me to take it because his knee had locked up(sucks getting old).   When I set the hook I knew it was very big because it didn't budge an inch. It felt like dead weight.  I slowly got her comming in.  She NEVER made a run!!!  When her nose was in the hole I had a hard time seeing her because she was covered in weeds.  I had to pull the weeds off of her before she could fit through the hole.  She was exactly 40 inches long and the el-cheap-o scale said 21 pounds.  I never got a circumferance measurement.  I hope that isn't to important for the taxidermist.  I plan on getting a replica done.

The WIFE did say if I ever got a 40 incher that I could get it mounted.  I don't get it though.  She says that a fish is ok but not my deer heads.

He is, but at least I got him off of the couch.  He had knee replacement surgery on one knee and he said that if he had the other one done already he would have beat me to the flag.

No kidding. Looks like you could spit to shore from that tip up. How deep was it?

5 feet of water.  A couple of years ago my oldest daughter asked to put a tip-up in 4-5 fow.  I told her that she wouldn't catch anything but she insisted.  I have since started putting tip-ups on the inside weed line and usually that is where we have caught the big girls!!!

Yea, there is a big heave on the south end which is where we are headed. If you stay close to the shore you don't have to worry about it and once you get past it there is a nice village setup that we will fish the outskirts of. Hope to see you out there.

Very nice fish.  Both look fat as hogs.  Wish my tip up fishing was like that this year.  My buddy got a 22 inch largemouth.  Thats our best so far.
