Wasn't sure where to put this so will go here for now. You probably heard that Steve Cannon passed away last night at age 81. Spent many an hour over the years listening to the dulcet tones of the Iron Ranger. You may have noticed some Cannon-isms at times in Fencelines. Saw Cannon a few times in person at the State Fair when doing some work with Strommie but never got a chance to shake his hand. I was a big fan so this has been a sad day for me. A super talent, he will truly be missed. A link to some clips of the Cannon Mess. He always got the money.

Time itself is bought and sold, the spreading fear of growing old contains a thousand foolish games that we play. (Neil Young)

He was THE man... grew up listening to him cause mom & dad always listened to CCO, and he grew on ya... loved Morgan, Ma linger & Backlash Leroux... Heres a good Cannon story....  In high school I had a class called TV Film & Radio.  Took a field trip to the WCCO studios, a few of my classmates got interviewed on the air by Cannon, they were in a different room cause Cannon never let people see him while he was on the air(kinda like OZ, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain) not even his co-workers, well me and a buddy sort of snuck off & were snooping around in CCO's record room(Yes those vinyl things ya put on a turntable) a huge library with thousands of records and were cracking up looking at the goofy ole stuff they had when up from behind us, we each got a strong hand grab on our neck/shoulder, and a familiar low voiced "OK guys... you cant be back here making fun of my records...."  we were kinda stunned, didnt know what to say & he goes..."So what music do you listen to... what stations do you listen to?"  My buddy replies "we listen to WCCO all the time"... and Cannon's low voiced reply.... "Ahhhh BULL :censored:"  Pretty darn funny!  I'll miss Steve & his characters.... Radio wasnt the same after he retired... I teared up when he quit, and I teared up again when I read he passed on in the paper this morning.  Like he always ended his Cannon Mess, his producer was adequate... & he (Cannon) got the money...    So long Cannon!
