I recently bought a 60 HP Mercury outboard I was wondering on how much Lower end unit grease to buy & what kind

I think any lower unit lube is ok  80-90 I think One tube should be enough. It don't take much. I have to say I m not a 100% sure on this.

When you go wherever to buy the stuff ask the person behind the counter if it is the right stuff. They might only have two kinds there. one for electric shift and one for not . those 60 hrs take soem oil , depending on the year it might take two or more tubes to fill it ?

My 1995 merc 40, which is the same as the 60 hp of that year, takes oil.

I usually put about a tube in it, but that depends on how much is left over after draining.

I recommend the valvoline marine lower unit lube.  after lots of broken parts and long nights working on my '89 Bayliner, I vowed never again to buy the cheap stuff.  it's a few extra bucks for piece of mind and reassurance.
