I'm trying to find some information on deer hunting in the BWCA.  My younger brother and I would like to put together a trip for this fall.  I've seen very few deer in the parts of the BWCA that I've been in, and I was wondering if anyone had ideas on areas with higher deer populations.

Any help?

I have hunted right on the edge of the BWCA for the last two rifle seasons and it is difficult to say the least.  There are deer up there, but very hard to pattern and they really have a ton of room to roam.  On top of that the BWCA area of Minnesota usually has some of the lowest deer densities per square mile of any place in the state.  If I were going to do it I would look for a map of a general area you want to hunt and see if you can identify any pinch points between two lakes, or between a couple swamps, etc.  Maybe even a high ridge?  That is how I would approach it.  Just go into it knowing that you will spend a lot of time looking for a couple deer.  They do get BIG up there though!!!  Good luck!

I would also try to get up there to look at where you are going to be. Talk with people and try to find out if there are deer vs car too. That might tell you where they are and going. It is tough to hunt up there is what I have been told. I have never hunted up in that area. I would also look where Stensethfan said too. Good luck and hope you do well.
If today was perfect. There would be no need for tomorrow.
