I have been seeing lots of pheasant chicks this summer while working on the farm and with all the bugs that are around they should have plenty to eat.  Should be another great year of pheasant hunting in SD.

We were already drawn for our waterfowl Lic.

When I was out to our place, things were looking good for both Pheasants and waterfowl.

Congrats on getting your waterfowl license.  Many of the guys that come hunting with us apply but usually only get drawn every 3-5 years.  I think the waterfowl hunting will be much better this year with all the water that is standing around.

I understand that places that normally burn up with heat and have a poor corn crop. Are wetter than normal and have very nice corn and grain. The ducks and the Pheasant numbers are said to be up.

I was at our place in June and things looked great than.

Keep the good news coming

There are record grasshopper numbers around SD this year.  The pheasants are feasting!

There are a lot of bugs around thats forsure so the chicks have more than enough to eat.  The pheasant numbers are great from what I am seeing around our farm.  It will be another great year of hunting hope everyone gets a chance to get out before we have a bad winter and have to start all over again.

Warm and high amounts of protein are whats needed for chicks to survive. I think they should have had a excellent start this year. Late crops out will play a big roll in success this year. My plans were planned way in advance of crop reports. Last year we had tough hunting because of a late harvest. I go to hunt waterfowl as well as Pheasants, so I have to take whats delt to us.
