Hey guys I have been thinking about getting a new ladder stand. The problem I find is being a bigger gut weighing around 280  most stands on the market are rated for 300lbs  and once you figure all your clothing and gear that is getting awful close to weight limit any way to close for comfort for me. I looked at 2 man stands ut they get so huge and clumsy plus weigh a ton to carry. Does any one know of astand  rated for 350 to 400lbs. Ladder or even regular stands

Dont knock the 2man stands so quickly!  I've got two set up right now and they are perfect for a single hunter with the extra room for your gear.  I hate being packed in on those single stands.  As far as too heavy, I carry mine in and out over the shoulders with no prob.  Although I take two trips.

I have a 2 man stand and it's nice..but I wouldn't carry it in and out every day. that would get old super quick.

I agree with the rest of the previous post.  I have 2 man ladder stands and the extra room is great.  I also make 2 trips, but I'm also lucky enough to have private land to hunt and leave them up all year round and just move them around every once in a while if patterns change.

spear foot,
Just a though on the double stands.  They are nice for the extra room but do take a little more planning when setting up.  Because they are so wide, you really need a good base for the back of the stand to prevent twisting when you step out to a corner.  What we usually do is find two (or more) trees in a clump.  Basswood is great for this.  Place the stand so both the back and one side can be latched to a tree.  This provides stability and good cover.
