My son and I walked out onto Red about 50 feet saturday.  There was a pile of ice about four feet high about 100 feet out.  Hopefully it will get warm and that will dissappear!!  My son shot a nice big doe, that was his first deer!!

It was really slow up in Waskish this weekend.  I saw a few deer, passed on a forkie a couple minutes into the season, (I think Cookie shot it a minute later), and ended up shooting a spike buck that I thought was a doe at sundown.  Very few shots heard throughout the weekend.  Mine was the only deer in a party of 5.  Kelly's uncle from another party got a really nice 8 pointer opening morning... that's about it that I know of...

Should be a good weekend coming up with the change of weather.

Good Luck!

Ken

There were very few shots in our area compared to last year.  We are happy with the one my son shot and having a nice weekend together.  There is something about being in the camper together and the conversations we have, its just great.

Hey labs if it came by me I would of tried to arrow it. I'm not to picky and would be happy with any deer harvested with a bow.On the other hand I saw the granddaddy of deer sunday eve.We will be hunting him hard off and on the rest of the season.Even if I do not get a deer this year. the high lite of my hunting carreer was last thursday when I arrowed a grouse on the fly with my recurve.

Hey Cookie.... Joel told me that was you hunting across the street from me... He thought it was you that got him.  I was holding out for a nice trophy doe.  Thought I got her till I walked up to those 5" spikes! ARGHHH.  There are some dandy rubs around there so I'm sure there's at least one big one.  Hope you run into him again!

Good luck!

Ken
