Great morning, didn't kill as many birds but dad killed three.

At 74 I know his days are very numbered, when it comes to getting into the field.

He has Diabetes, he has lost all but one toe on one of his feet and didn't get good news this week.

His vain he had put in his one leg to help get blood to his foot, has stopped flowing. The main vain in his other leg is not working either. Any injury and could mean a loss of a leg or could lead to death.

When we first got set up. He had brought a bucket to sit on. well, it sank in the soft dirt and he tipped over and couldn't get to his feet. My youngest helped him up. He was discouraged and said he should have stayed home.

I told him hang in there dad, I'm going to do my best to put birds in your lap. They will fly soon.

Well, The first flock was about 30 birds. They came from the west, opposit of yesterday.

I gave them a light honk of my Zink Paralyzer and they gave a look and flew past us, made a swing and came back again. I gave them another honk on the Paralyzer.. They swung around again...comming back at us from the west again. They set and cupped and dropped in about 40 yards out. I told everybody pick a bird and be ready. They jumped and where gaining ground fast. We knocked down three...just too far too fast. should have had more.

Nolan and I went to grab the dead birds...caught in the open...we had birds locked up and comming in. We layed flat on the ground and waited for them to get above us. I said take'em..hard as hell to twist around laying down as they banked to avoid the gun fire.. We knocked three down out of that flock. The old man took two of them. Last shot he went @ss over tea-kettle off his pail and on to his back. I though OH! $hit..he's laying there laughing..saying you see that big sumbich I knocked down. LMAO!!!

Dad wanted to hang it up, his legs were bothering him bad. As we walked over to get the truck...here comes a single, me no gun. I yelled stay down.. let'em come...let'em come..take'em dad. He emptied the old Super X-2 and third shot busted a wing and it sailed a circle around us and landed near a pond. Nolan ran it down and finished it. Ended with 7 birds

This was a Hallmark moment for me. This will most likely be my dads last goose hunt. I just had to get him in the field one more time.

Glad the guy upstairs granted this one wish too me. Thanks Lord! I owe ya one!

I'm going to give him first shot at the back field for deer.

After I get him to shoot one, then my hunt will begin

 Thanks for the kind words

Awesome story Chuck.? I have tears in my eyes.? Time goes WAY to fast and it really makes you appreciate those specail times.? You and yours truly are blessed to have these memories.

I have that diabetes thing going on too and it scares the hell outta me.? I just hope I am still around in 30 years and my kids set me up on a pail somewhere so I can whack geese. :)
