looks interesting Jason, I’ll check it out.  Not sure if I'd have the commitment needed to enter reports all the time though... but the concept seems neat.

If a gun kills people then I can blame a pen for my misspells?

Interesting concept...  I don't hunt enough but might be interested in it if it was set up for fishing.

Great comments.  Just FYI.  We have been working with the USGS and DNRs to get all the information needed for fishing.  Freshwater portion of this site will be ready by March/April timing for fisherman to use.  We will also have interactive features that we are developing right now.  This is specifically being developed for fishing.

Again, thanks for all your comments.  If you want to stay in contact with me. Shoot me an email and we can converse over the fishing as we finish the development.

Looks pretty cool. Beats putting it on the calender and then trying to find it the next year.

??? GAMETRAXX ? the concepts sounds good, but with every new system that comes into the market there are always problems with leaking info! its not that its like national security or anything just like telling your best friend to keep your special site to yourself or he or she wont learn of any others. its the( i cant tell you but i can show you the spot) syndrom. i made the mistake of publishing some of my pictures in the local paper of better fish that i have cought and speared, and that was a capital mistake. it didnt  take long and you have friends you did not know you had and even more followers. only time will tell?  ??? MAYBE?????????

Woodchuck,

You are EXACTLY right.  That is also our feeling as the developers of this system.  The true intent is to help the hunter/fisherman become more knowledgable of their own experiences.  To see when we are and are not successful.  As far as "your" information being known to the public.  NEVER.  This is yours and yours alone.  This is important to you and us! Especially me, I have my eye on a monster right now:)

Thanks for the great feedback.

With so many hunters managing there land, planting food plots, and spending all of there extra time and $ trying to fill a buck tag with a monster buck. why wouldn't they want to track all of there hunts with something like Gametraxx?

I think its a great idea!

I agree with the other posts, definitely useful for hunting if you really do it often. Could be invaluable for fishing, if you are one to take the time to record outings. I especially like the weather tracking feature.

I think this looks like a great product.  I have recorded information in a note book in the past.  This would make tracking that data so much easier.  It is set a very good price (less the $40.00 a year).

I think the idea is a solid one, but I am wondering are there any plans to make the program a stand alone that doesn't store information on a server.  Specifically what I'm thinking is a scaled down version of what you have that could run on a palm pilot where guys could enter info in from the field as it happens and then sync this data up with their database when they return from the field.  Just my .02.

Blazer,

Thank you for your comments.  I am the head developer for GameTraxx, and I thought I would step in and answer this question.

It is definitely in our plans to have a Palm/PDA application in the future that will allow you to enter your sightings, harvests, catch-and-releases, etc. while in the field.  We are also considering offering a "GameTraxx" Field PDA at some point that will have GPS capability built in, so that all you have to do is enter what and when, and the rest is captured for you.  This will be particularly valuable when combined with the mapping features we are planning.

Regardless of what type PDA or what is recorded in the field, the goal will be to allow you to "sync" this information with the GameTraxx server upon returning to a PC with an internet connection.  All of the mapping/graphing will always take place via the GameTraxx online system due to the massive amount of weather data that is stored on the servers.

Hopefully this answers your question.  Feel free to ask anything about the product in this thread, or you can enter questions directly on the site at http://www.gametraxx.com/contact_us.aspx.

Thanks again for your interest,

Tyler Graham

As I have seen, alot of you are fisherman.  The GameTraxx team met Thursday night and discussed timing on Fishing portion of Gametraxx.  We will be ready by February and we are excited about what this feature will do for us fishermen!!

Side Note:  One fella told me from Ohio that he is going back and inputting his entire 2006 log (Sep to present) into the GameTraxx system.  He is excited to see his trends on his farm.  He also asked me if he could buy this for Christmas presents.  So Tyler is setting up a system that will allow someone to buy a Christmas Gift for that hunter (this year)!  You can then print out a Certificate the recipient will use with a Logon Code.  Just an FYI.

Thanks for all your great comments!!

I've had a few days to play around with gametraxx and have been really impressed.  I have a journal of all my hunts over the last 3 years, so I've had alot of data to process and enter.

Up until now, I've separated all my data by myself in microsoft excel and came up with my own graphs.  This required having temp, moon phase, barometer, wind speed, etc. and entered and kept track of by myself.  Gametraxx does all that for you.  It's amazing.  Unfortunately the all that info is only available over the last few months.  Ssfr2006 said they are working on getting past years conditions incorporated.  When that happens, this program will be even better.  Something else I wondered about was camera pictures.  Again, he said that something was in the works for that as well.

For just getting started, this program is amazing.  A hunter can really get a feel for trends in movement and sightings compared to conditions and moon phases.

I'll have more to say in the coming weeks and months.  Just wanted to let everyone know my first thoughts.
