It was a very long week in the plow trucks to get everything opened up. But we gotter done between me in the v plow and Jon running the straight blade, we plowed off over 5 miles of road and another 10 miles of side roads. That is a lot of work for only having 2 guys working on the ice. I am very proud of the way Jonathan has taken on a huge responsibility and a love of working the ice business and I think he will keep the family tradition going long after I stop doing it. I have roads to everything plowed off and ready to fish. The best bite this weekend was out on the 2 humps and just off of the second reef in 28 ft of water with at least 1 limit of eaters being caught by most of the people that were fishing these spots. I had a chance to fish the 3:00pm to 5:00 pm with some friends on Sunday and caught 20 or so fish, quite a few were only 12 to 13 inches, so they went back, but we kept 11 keepers between the three of us. I told my son Jonathan to grab his rod, with his friend Tommy, to fish the 3:00pm to 5:00pm time today. It was just a blast to fish with them and to have everyone catch fish. Jonathan hooked into a big one and had his drag to tight, so he told me to loosen it up and when I went to I loosen it up. I went too much and it back lashed and he lost the fish, it looked like a very nice one by the way his rod was doubled over. I looked at him and he looked at me and said, hey man, don’t ever touch my rod again. It was so funny, but I felt so bad that he lost the fish. So now the saying is, hey man, make sure you got your drag set. We do not get much time to fish together in the winter, so it was really nice to laugh and joke around with him and Tommy for a couple of hours of male bonding. The only way you could get them to bite, was to drop it down on the bottom and then lift it up about 3 to 6 inches and jig like hell. It was hard to get use to feeling them on the line, they were just sucking it in, there wasn’t really any hit to the bite. The bobber's did not do much over the past couple of days but they were very good on Saturday. If you weren’t jigging it, you were not getting them to bite. I will be moving things around for the next couple of days to get the houses out on the new spots that I have been catching fish at. It does me no good to leave them in their spots if they are not on fish, so off to new water we will go. I have some new pictures from the past 3 days that I was able to get out and fish, there are quite a few slot fish out on the 2 humps this year and I must say that it is nice to see, it has been a few years since I have personally caught this many keeper walleyes in the winter. The year class of 12 to 14 inches is also very strong and looks very promising for the future of the fishery. I must have caught over 200 of them so far this season. Any one who knows me or about me, knows that I do not B.S on what the bite is doing, I will stake my reputation on my word, there is a bite on certain spots on Mille Lacs, from what I have heard, and for sure, I know from fishing myself that I have a pretty decent walleye bite going on here now and I just hope that it keeps getting better. I have caught with 3 other people, over 50 some fish in 3 days, 2 hours per day, and yes it was prime time but I have to work all day. In 6 hours of fishing over 3 days we were able to keep 23 between fish from 14 inches up to 17 3/4. I don't think that that is, by any means a slow bite! I have gotten some of the foam houses out on these spots that I have caught very nice fish over these past 3 days and they are ready to rent today. Come and get it while the bite lasts!
That is it for now at Rock Central. I will keep you updated on the bite as I get houses moved at start to fish out of them on Wed. If I get out fishing any more this week during the day I will know more on the day time bite out on the new spots.

Be safe
