My dad has gone through my grandpa's estate and has a few guns he'd like a value put on.  Is there a site that gives such information for free?  Kind of like a Kelly Blue book for boomstix?

One is:  Winchester model 61   22 slide action-condition very good with a few minor dents in stock

The other: Winchester 12 gauge model 97-condition- fair to good, with much of bluing worn off, no major dings or scratches

Any help will be appreciated.

Well the model 61 can vary a lot depending on which model 61 it is.
They made a smooth bore .22 a magnum, and a .22 WRF, but the standard 61 in .22 lr and in 80% condition is worth about $550.

The rest go up to $2100 for a smooth bore model in 80% which only 75 to 150 were made with three variations in that smooth bore model.

Your model 12 is a fairly common gun and is worth about $200 to $350 unless mint condition.

Hope this helps, Benny

Here are four sites that you can check out,  they will give you an idea what other people are asking for their guns.  you will have to realize that it probably is not what they will sell for especially in this area.

GunBroker.com
UsedGunBroker.com
GunsAmerica.com
AuctionArms.com
The Winchester 97 was called the "Widow Maker" as the hammer sear gets worn down and it can fire without pulling the trigger.

Does the Model 61 say .22 Short on the barrel?  If so, it is the rarer of the versions produced.

the ol' standby everyone i know uses is fjestad's blue book of gun values. I'm pretty sure gander mountain even uses these to appraise the guns that come in for the used shelves.
