my oldest kid, Dan, was able to bow hunt with his half brother chris for the first time ever this past weekend.

chris ( his brother) had never shot a bow before but has a brand new pse, set up at cabella's to fit him proper. we sighted in friday afternoon at my place and after a couple adjustments, he was consistantly pumping in three inch groupings from 10 to twenty five yards. even from on top of the house boat he was still grouping tight.
I told them to get out there and give em heck.
they went out the next morning, but saw nothing. the evening hunt went much better for them.
they both saw deer and both got shooting in. chris had a doe walk out behind him two different times and he had to shoot through trees to make any kind of shot but both times he missed, the second time glancing off a tree. he said his heart was nearly jumping out of his chest!
his first real experience deer hunting and it will not soon be forgotten.
Dan meanwhile was a little further away in the meadow and he had a yearling doe come out towards him from the woods. it was loping through the tall grass, so he waited for the head to dip below the grass and drew back. it was still moving along so he smacked his lips, causing the deer to stop and when it did let let it fly, right to the boiler room!!
the two of them were so excited, though they probably wont admit it, I think they hugged ;D
they worked together to track the deer and dispatch it. they drug it up to the van and called me for a jump because the hatch light had been left on
that worked out though, we went over to give them a jump and listen to their stories.
this was Dan's first archery deer so he is stoked.
both of those boys.....young men are hooked on bow hunting. just like it should be :)
what do you suppose they are doing next weekend?
take a kid hunting and fishing!!

Great job Dan. Jigs I know they must have been excited as 7734.
