Fished the LLWT on Leech Sat. and Sun. with my son.

Prefishing Fri. I located some nice fish first fish measured 29 1/4 inches on the water for 30 minutes moved to another spot after I released it I caught a 24" fish, nice but too small to weigh in the tourney.

Fishing a 7ft lindy with a crawler. The bite now is a Leech or crawler on a Lindy.

Day one we fish the spots we caught big fish on. The first five hours we had two fish under 18" to weigh and had released 7 fish that were 24 inches to 25.5. Stayed too long at this spot  when we were going to make a move another 24.5 inch eye would get boated to sucker us into fishing this spot longer.

12:30 with two fish I make a move up in the big lake to get three more fish to weigh in our five fish limit. This worked as we got our three nice unders to weigh in five at 7.08 lbs. Day one 48 place out of 155 boats.

Day two we need two over 26 inches to be in the money I work spots for big fish then make a run north to get unders didnt work last two hours back to our spot for over fish pulled in five minutes a bite a real nice fish and looks good mearure it and its a 25 7/8 inches just short so close but still short.

Day two went for the homerun we needed two over fish to get in the money no luck close but no cigar.

Had fun fishing with my son and Leech is back funny when you say not another 24 or 25 inch fish.

Pics of my 29 1/4 fish and a 24" the same day sorry about the gill showing on the big fish didnt know it was like that. But I did release it and watch it swim away.

Bob -

I have never fished leech.... hard to believe since i've been fishing since I could walk but its true, never been there. Does it have similarities to Mille Lacs minus the flats? Same style fishing or do you see more people using jigs on Leech?

Also, you run a full service guide service? If you could post here or send me a pm I may be interested in a half day trip if you have openings. Would like to catch a walleye on leech! :happy1:

Great report and sounds like a great time! Thanks

Great Looking fish!  Sorry you didnt catch them in the tourni...  Who won and what stats did they bring in?   IMO they should make this a catch/photo/release tournamet like Muskie ones!  Then you could use all bigger ones!

Heres the Link to the site http://leechlakewalleyetournament.com/ for standings.

When you have a slot Tourney its alot of luck to get the correct fish under and over. I fish this one as its by my home close to leech and I fish with my Son. A format like the AIM Walleye Tourneys would be great. Plus more fish live.

nice fish bob!
to bad you missed out on the money. I know this contest is more about fishing with your son than winning, but wouldn't it be sweet...

hope your summer is going well. work is busy minus the rain days.
