Lake Geneva report 6/18/10
 
A new day and another trip. Today's victims were Steve Smorkol and his client Bruce. I usually try to tone down on the old fishing war stories when my guests bring out an important business client. But, Lee being Lee that's not easy. Anyhow Bruce has been out with us on multiple outings and enjoys a little smack talkin out in the boat.


I never miss an opportunity to remind Steve about the time he lost my rod and reel over the side two years ago. You could have heard a pin drop in the boat for the next hour after that happened. That's not one of Steve's favorite stories, but it usually brings on a chuckle from the rest of the crew. Sorry Steve! Now everyone knows.



Where were we now? Ah, fishing report yes they weren't jumping in the boat although we did have some good success. Boy those darn pike are becoming a pain in the hinny. I've never had a spring with so many cutoffs. Big gills are still hanging on the edges of the 20 ft breaks and I do mean BIG. Today we caught more smallies than larges about a 20/80 percent split. Most of the oldie but goodie spots are starting to pay dividends while having been more inconsistent on prior outings giving up only a couple fish per spot.


The usual seasonal patterns have started to set up and the smallmouth will begin to frequent the 26 to 30 ft breaks more often during the next week.
