Over the weekend we planted 1400 trees(only took us about 6 hours).  Norway spruce to be exact.  We purchased them from Itasca Nursery in Cohasset.  They were very helpful with advise.  We payed for 1100 trees but they had more trees in the styrofoam blocks.  We payed about 18 cents each.  Next year we will be planting more berry type bushed and wild plums.

The weather was perfect.  Inch of rain the day before to make the ground soft and then 2 inches of rasin the next 2 days.

Here are some pics.  We sprayed strips to kill all of the compeating grasses.  We used round up and added a weed preventer(Princep with simizine) to keep the seeds from sprouting next spring.
It was very windy when we sprayed.

With a little luck and some love these little trees will grow fast and tall.

and all the deer are thinking... "Mmm... buffet"
If a gun kills people then I can blame a pen for my misspells?

I didn't think deer ate spruce.

We are going to fence in the stuff we plant next year.

That's the place we get trees from every year.  I plan to plant a few today.  Lots of work but if they grow, it's well worth it.

The nursery is only 15 minutes from our land.  They told us we can expect 90% survival.
