At least one of our members is thinking of a run to Devils Lake North Dakota.  I am going to try to hook him up with some ATI-47s for his trip.  Has anyone been there?  I would like to know what colors are the most popular there.  I will be trying to contact Jason Mitchell  from Jason Mitchell outdoors to see if he has any insight for us.  He has a guide service there and a TV show.  I will forward any info I receive.  From what I understand you can grab your ice stuff and hop on a train in the am. and be fishing in the pm.  If you have done this or have any insight please share.  As far as I know this will be the first time on Devils Lake for the ATI-47s so I would appreciate any info as far as water clarity, depths, colors and sizes that are prefered.  I am sure this ice lure can cross the border successfully.  :rotflmao:

I have been there numerous times and plan on many more trips. I usually head out there in march.  My opinion better time of year. December and january can be very brutal out there with snow and very very cold.  But if you contact the resorts and bait shops out there they are more than happy to help you.  If you want more info on phone numbers pm  me.

I plan on heading over there this year with a group instead of our yearly trip to LOW.  When I even begin to think about ice fishing I'll be posting for some information on resorts etc.......

Will or do any of you take the train?  I saw a show on that and it looked pretty  easy and fun.

I think it is an amtrack train.  I have never been on it.  I think you just bring stuff and  hop the train down town.  You are there in a couple of hrs. I thought they called it the perch express.  Looked like an easy way to go. :happy1:  I wish I had more info but that is why I am asking.  I was hoping one of our members could give us the low down.   Anybody tried the perch express?

I slef have never been on the perch express  but  have talked to the guides which run it  while staying at devils lake. Real nice guys. I drive there becuz I like to be able to move around and try new spots. You talk to the guides at night and they will give you info.. Other wise the bait shops will point you in the right direction.  For  a first trip the amtrack might be the way to go for some of you so you get to know the area.  I'm  heading out there again in march for a week to do some scouting and fishing. There are some other very good lakes right around the devils lake area for fishing as well. We will just say some other lakes are growing like devils lake and the fishing is good too. Bring warm clothes becuz there always seems to be a 30 mph wind out there.  AND the last couple years they have been getting buried in snow also.  Thats why I prefer spring  warmer, most of the snow is melted , And my opinion the fishing is better. If any one out there is interested this spring and wants to come out there when I'm out there I will do anything I can to help you out. Its a great time.

I got this reply from Jason Mitchell.  I thought I would share it with you.  Spearfoot I,  I want to incorporate a few new head colors for your next trip.  I have some ready to send out but I am going to send them out next week because I have some modifications I want to make after getting this info from Jason.  If you guys have not seen his show,  Jason took over for the late Tony Dean.  I included his link.  I hope that is  alright.   :happy1:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Hi Scott,

Good colors include white/ red head, hot perch, glow perch, gold and red, chrome/ white and red.  Good luck with the site.

The Perch Patrol sunk a truck with clients inside this week.  Fortunately all got out ok.  Reminds us all to be safe on the ice....http://www.devilslakejournal.com/features/x703877660/It-was-terrifying
