My daughter Lizzy and I headed up to Chisago yesterday for some fishing. Loos15 came along as did BidWades and his son Gavin. We got up there and ventured out on the ice. I let Lizzy sit on my lap once we got out a ways. In a laps of concentration she grabbed the wheel and sent us into a huge snow bank. I didn't have the throttle down so we got high centered. We opted to fish there until Wade showed up to give me a tug out. We setup in very shallow water, less than 10 FOW.

Here's Lizzy slushing out the hole.

We got to fishing and it didn't take long and Rui (Loos15)  pulled up this nice bass.

He continued on to get another bass that was a little bigger. We fished for a while and were pulling up some decent sunfish. I got the hook set and got Lizzy to come and reel it up. She wouldn't hold the fish but got her to pose with the fish and power noodle for a pic.

Fish continued to come and we had to do a lot of sorting for some bigger fish. Wade showed up and pulled me out no problem. We kept fishing in the same area for about an hour and were catching fish. Pretty nice sunnies with great color.

I think Lizzy got a little upset here as she gave me a dirty look. LOL

Gavin was pretty interested in getting as wet as he could. He definitely kept Wade on his toes for sure. He and Lizzy had a great time going around and cleaning slush out of holes. Wade caught a pretty decent crappie and had it on the ice for a meal. Gavin figured if he threw it down his hole he would have a pretty good chance at catching it. Turns out the crappie was more interested in swimming away than playing with our kids. LOL.

We decided to pack up and move out to deeper water and see if we could hit the night bite for crappies. By this time Gavin was wet from head to toe and to top it off he stepped in a hole. Wade opted to head out and try again another time. We moved out to about 22 FOW and setup the house. Lizzy was really excited to get to fish in the house and, after a quick snack, went right to fishing.

We marked a lot of fish and threw everything we had in our boxes at them. Rui managed to get a really nice crappie and a bull sunfish but that was it. We stayed on that spot for a couple hours. We mainly stayed because Lizzy was having such a great time and didn't want to leave. She had us cracking up most of the night. I think our favorite part was when Rui and I were talking and she looked at us and said "Guys, I came out here for some peace and quite, so hush it!!!"

Here's a couple of quick shots of her messing around in the house. She ended the night playing with minnows for the most part.

All in all I have to say this was probably my favorite fishing trip of all time. Yea we got on some fish early but it was Lizzy that made the trip for me. I've taken her on the ice a few times in years past and she had a hard time occupying herself. This trip was the first for her this year due to how cold it's been. I was so proud of her during this trip. She kept herself pretty entertained and actually spent time fishing! She also caught a few fish and started to hold fish (only with her gloves on but it's a start). It was such a treat to see her having a good time on the ice with us. She warmed up to Rui and, like I said, had us cracking up the whole time. I told her I will take her out anytime with me if she continues to enjoy it this way.
Friends are like buttcheeks..........crap might separate them, but they come together in the end.

Gotta love the kids saying things.  When I set the hook on those 2 14 inch crappies I caught the other day I offered the pole to my daughter both times.  The second time she gives me the "look" (learned from mom) and says, "I told you the first time.........I'm not reeling it up unless I catch it on my pole."  Then she made me give her the lure off of my fishing pole.
