So, I just talked ot my uncle and we booked a trip up to Zippel for the weekend of Feb 26th.   :happy1:
They were up there last year (not sure where they stayed), but they had a good time and caught some fish - but not as much as they would have liked.  I wasnt able to go last year, so I am pumped that I can go this year.
I hope the weather is nice and the fish are biting   :fishing2:

I will be sure to let you all know how it goes when we get back.  IT WILL BE AN EXERIENCE!!

Great place to fish.  Gold was our best color.  ALWAYS put out a tip up with the bait just under the ice.  The monsters have learned that the fisherman pull up smaller fish to fast from the deep which kills them.  I have seen some very large fish cruising right under the holes in 30 + feet of water.  Good luck and post pics when you get back!!!
Anything that is free is worth saving up for.

I have my house on Sauger St. just west of the Igloo Bar in 26 fow.  Most of the rental/sleeper houses are out on DaRange St now in 27-30 fow.  They may have a few in on bobber St. too, but I haven't been west on that street in a few weeks.  A friend fishing far west on Bobber St. has caught 3 fish over 26" in the past two weekends, but very low numbers of fish being caught, mainly a big one here and there.
You can't afford not to go fishing.

I have been up there once this winter so far, and it was pretty slow. The fish we caught were solid keepers though.
My brother fishes up there every weekend and he said it has been slow all winter. He bounces around between Springsteel and Whisky Flats for the most part. He has more luck there from about now until end of season though.
Dakids' tip up idea is a good one if you have the extra line to spare.
Gold is good normally, I also have good luck off of a Red/ silver shiner look a like lipstick jig that glows. Custom Jigs and Spins carries them on their site.
Good luck, catch a monster!
