Went out to a busy metro lake today.  Found a spot by myself and got to fishing.  A perfect day  to be on the ice.  Light snow fall and a very mild breeze.  Middle of the afternoon.  I really went out to see if my home auger blade repair would work.  I brought the rods just in case I was able to drill a hole.  Good news is the blade repair worked.  I was able to drill a hole no problem. What a difference a week makes.  Seven days ago the only fish I caught were on the Daphneaminnoe with no color.  I started out with that today.  I did coax a couple of takers but not like last week.   The interesting thing is the ATI-47 1/32oz kicked  :moon:.  I used the white firetiger.  Drops like a rock and easy to see on the vex.  (I hope you see this Lentz).  The fish were small but caught at will.   I wanted to enjoy one of Fawkinnae's fine ceegars  but didn't have the time to light one up let alone enjoy it.   Who would have figured.  They would not touch these last weekend.  Wax worms only and no one close to me at all.   Released all fish today.  I did take a couple of pics.   :cheerleader:

Nice pics.  How deep and how far from structure?

30ft and no structure.  Kind of a dead zone going by where all the fish houses are located.   The fish were stacked from tight to the bottom to 15f. down.  Both the bottom fish and the suspended ones would bite until 4:30.  Then it was over.

    Early March update-

The ati-47 white fire tiger did the trick for me this weekend.  Believe it or not the crappies were 40ft. down and belly to the bottom.  The 1/32 47 was the only lure I could fish effectively.  I tried the eye drops and daphs but at 40ft they were not heavy enough to fish effectively with out drop shotting or having additional weight (split shot) on the line as well.  I had no split shot with me.  I could fish the 47 very effectively at that depth.  I did catch a couple on the eye drops and daphs but it was too much of a hassle.  At that depth the action changes and the feel for the lure was lost.   The fish would not touch a lure that was not moving.  I caught 10 to one on the jig stick vs the dead stick.  It was an interesting weekend.
