As always, we hope this month’s update finds you all well and enjoying the warmer, sunnier days we’ve been having. It seems that not only do such days bring us out to play, but the wildlife as well. The Amik’s Pond Trail is covered with animal tracks from deer and squirrels to foxes, coyotes, and wolves! The trumpeter swans were spotted this weekend up and down the river, the Visitor Center Barred Owl continues to perch near the bird feeders, the deer continue to bask on the hillside, and even a few raccoons were spotted running through the snow. Along with the everyday chickadees, goldfinches, and woodpeckers, Visitor Center guests are also enjoying spotting Pine Siskins and Common Redpolls. While the ski trails were temporarily out of order after the February melt, they are better than ever since we received roughly nine inches of snow last week. With all of that, there’s no better time to get out to enjoy your Wild River State Park!
