Lake trout season on Lake Superior gets longer
(Released March 17, 2011)

Minnesota anglers looking for lake trout on Lake Superior now have at least one additional weekend to fish.

Effective this year, the season has been extended to include the first full weekend of October. The 2011 season closes at midnight on Sunday, Oct. 2. Previously the season closed Sept. 30.

The change, which will have minimal impact on the Lake Superior fishery, was extensively discussed with citizens and proposed in the Lake Superior management plan.
