While I am pleased that he is dead and gone, I wished they would have thrown him in the streets and let the people tear him apart-it would have been a more fitting punishment. 

However, I don't believe this will change much with the current situation our brave men and women are facing over there.  Now maybe the new Iraqi gov't can move on and get their country in order so we can get our troops out.  They need to grow a pair and take care of their own country!

I'm just glad he didnt walk. I had a feeling they were afraid to deal with him they way they should have and he was going to end up a free man.

I agree Woody. I hope we can get our troops out and they can start running their own country. The only problem is, they have never had to stand up for themselves. They just shut their eyes and turn their heads.

Nothing good will come out of this, if anything it will get worse. He has been in custody plenty long and the violence just gets worse and worse, so why would it change now that he is dead. Dream on if you think they will say "our leader is now dead, lets just all lay down our arms and be nice". Obviously the US military doesn't think anything will change, they want to send over more troops, nobody in the higher ups is saying to bring the troops home. Hanging Saddam was only meant to appease some to garner support for the war. Can't have it both ways, saying bring home the troops and yet support the war and this administration.

I don't think anyone is saying he did not deserve it.  I think my point anyway was that this will probably just make things worse over there.  I don't know that there ever would have been a good time to do it so there is really nothing more for me to say.

Oh my! do we have some opinions here or what? This is really raising some ire! Just remember everyone has one (opinion)just like everyone has an azwhole. And I just happen to beleive mine is the right one, but I still respect you for having yours, otherwise what is the USA where we have the right to free speech? And I certainly wouldn't hold his hand and put flowers on his grave any more than those who ordered the lever pulled. If he committed the atrocities claimed he should die, I never said he should'nt.  Someone explain to me why it will get better in Iraq now that he is gone.

thats not what it was about. things getting better in iraq i mean.
he has committed crimes against humanity and laughed in the face of the world.
some people are so eager to forget.
remember the sanctions and post war rules he so defiantly violated, repeatedly?
remember him not letting the un weapons inspectors in time after time.
direct violation of the cease fire.
remember the no fly zone violations?
we should have never let up.
THAT is where we went wrong.
that and we had osama handed to us and we turned it down.

First off, let me say, he got what he deserved.

Now I would like to say that my mind is so much more at ease knowing we have so many military strategists here, I am sure you each have a direct line to the joint chiefs. Just how many of you have even served in the military let alone at a level that included decision making processes.

Lastley I'd like to know just what exactly this thread has to do with "outdoors" and why it isn't in the political section.
