I had just finished baiting my bear site yesterday and was about a quarter mile down the road when I met a truck with wheeler on the back.  I turned around and followed him to the logging road which leads to my bait sites.  The guy gets out and asks me if I was bear hunting down this logging road.  I told him that I was and he promptly said good luck, you have a good spot and was about to leave when I stopped him to pick his brain on the spot and what to expect.
Turns out he is a local guide and knows the area pretty good.  We chatted for about 15 min. and he gave me a few tips. I asked for and got his card and will be using him next time I get drawn for a bear tag.

It made me feel good to know that there are still good people that respect others.

There are a lot of good people in this world that do respect others. As one would say you all ways remember the bad one more then remember the good.  :happy1:

sure glad you've had a good experience like that. we've got one in the wirt areas the exact opposite. he had a bait station already set up and legally marked, he dug a hole and put up a bait 50 ft away. one year i decided i was going out at midnight to set my bait there. got to where we park about 11;50 and he was already out baiting. i could here his ATV.

but like wildlife said those bad ones sure stick with ya and theres always one bad one that makes all the good ones not look so good.

this guy even had the gahwoonas to threaten my bro at the station with his boys around. really a good way for a guide to inpress 2 young hunters how to act. and i know for a fact he ruined our baits too!

Hunting is not life and death. It is more important than that.

I was walking out of a freshly baited site only to see a guy and a young boy sitting on the tailgate of thier truck, and the first thing he said was "are you baiting this area also and when did you put in your bait" I said "just finished", how about you? and his wife came walking out of the woods and they both seemed nerveus, upset?? Now this could have went sour fast... with a lump in my throat, I said sorry I didn't know you guys were in here, he said the same, whew!! I said no problem with me if you don't have a problem with it as I'm a 30+ min walk to the sw how about you guys, we are 100 yds of the road straight in he she said, I said something like the more bait in the area the more bears to show up and someone should get one! We chatted for 20 min or so about past years and success at this spot their 2nd or 3rd year baiting this spot, my 13th year and we all left with the "ok" feeling and the young man of 12 hopfully learned it can be ok to hunt around others and not get upset about some competition..turned out they had oppertunity (sp) last year and we scored here last year. Like dakids said...feels good to know that there are still good people with respect to others!!
