Ok Bowhunters, I want some opinions on the ThermaCELL, for those who have used them.   Have you every had issues with the scent it produces?   What level of effectiveness have you noticed while in the field?   All and any stories about this product will be interesting!   Well...
Shoot straight and give'em the shaft!

I have used it; it was very effective in the field and I would recommend it.
However, I would not buy the different scented cartridges again, I felt they were pretty strong smelling. I just use the 'unscented' ones now. It gives off a faint odor, but as long as the deer don't start to associate that odor with danger or human intrusion you should be tip top.
Plus if you hunt the right wind they shouldn't smell it anyway.

I've used them several times now and would say they are effective.  Not the same as deet where the skeeters buzz around, but more like they go away so you never think of them.  Pretty cool.  As to the odor, it may be a trade off - bugs or an odor - but I have no experience with deer spooking from it.

Yep.  They definitely work.

I was a little skeptical at first, but of course I bought one and I was happy with the results.  I had it out one evening while I was enjoying a few  :toast: on the deck and I decided to test it out - I saw a group of skeeters flying around above me, so I picked up the Thermacell and moved to towards them and they all bolted away.   :happy1:
They dont have the largest radius, but I put it under my feet in the tree stand and it seems to work just fine.  I may figure out a way to connect it to the tree so It is a little closer to my head.

They work.
Regarding the scent. If the deer is downwind good chance you are going to get busted just becauses you stink no matter what you do.

I would rather be able to sit still, hunt the appropriate wind direction and not swat bugs.

You will not regret the purchase.
