For the most part, slow fishing seems to be the norm in the Ely area.
Shagawa Lake is producing some small Walleyes in 8-10 FOW towards dusk, with night crawlers being the best bait.  Bass and Pike fishing has been slow, with small fish being taken.
Snowbank Lake fisherman are getting Walleyes late in the evening with small suckers for bait.
Bass and Pike are hitting in shallow water, but large fish are hard to come by.
Burntside Lake is producing some decent size Pike in 18-26 FOW by trolling larger crank baits.  Walleyes are sporadic, with those in the 22-24 inch range caught after 6pm.  Most Bass being caught are small, as the larger ones are still in deeper water.
Birch Lake anglers had some good luck on Crappies over the weekend, in about 18 FOW.  Minnows are the bait of choice for them.
Bottom line is that fishing is still slower than normal with different fronts moving through on a daily basis.
