A couple friends and I are putting in for the Camp Ripley hunt this year. It will be the first time for all of us at Camp Ripley if we are drawn. Does anyone have any suggestions of better areas to focus on hunting that are off the beaten path of the masses? Any info shared would be greatly appreciated.

This will actually be my first year bow hunting as well so I will be very excited if I am drawn for this hunt also. Thanks in advance!

Based on preference points (seniority points) the entire group would either; A. be drawn and receive tags for the hunt or B; not be drawn and receive a higher preference point for the next hunts lottery.

My Dad and I apply as a group for the turkey seasons so either we both hunt together or we both sit home.

Lenz there is a youth archery hunt in ripley. your dad can't carry his bow but you would be able to do some scouting for the 2nd hunt if you were to be drawn for both.

Getting away from the masses probably isn't happening.  Most people though head for the far NE corner and the east side.  It's a good experience.  I have never not been drawn in the 2 years I've applied.  The secret I think is to make sure someone in your party as never been there before.

I just applied yesterday for the first hunt.  Never been there before but I know there are some bruins in there.  People from all over the country apply for the two Ripley hunts.  Good Luck to everybody. :USA:

Congrats Proangler, I'll be looking for some pics of your harvest.  :happy1:

Looks like we missed out this year but should have a good shot for next year then.
