I've shot there on a league last year. are they still mostly hand throwers with trappers? for the location if they put some effort into sporting clays they could be huge.

Yeah, the trappers still do the sets, however they have a new remote 5 stand setup.looks like fun as well.Shot a couple more rounds last night to get caught up,or tried to anyway, the wind was brutal.

I don't think they have enough support to go crazy reorganizing what they have or the customers like in years past, but still its a fun course and a break from metro's 5 stand.

Spring league is finally over tonight, well with this heat tomorrow night for me,the skeeters and ticks have been relentless but we managed to break our targets~ I think the club is in financial trouble, they are now closed friday thru monday due to the lack of shooters, lets face it as fun as this sport is not many can afford to keep shooting.

their hours there have always been strange. when it used to be family run the family would take the weekends off to head to the cabin. then at one point their membership was "full" with no open slots. then they opened up a bunch of them in the last five years. so I'm not sure what their story is. they really haven't progressed with the times and have kinda been forgotten in the sporting clays world. minnesota has about 5 really good sporting clays clubs.

I agree beeker,I usually shoot forest lake and maple island clubs because they are close to my house and practice 5 stand @ metro.I think the Horse and Hunt club has the most clallenging courses,I also liked the wild marsh club as well or some such name, shot the D.U. shoot there a couple of times.

theres going to be a clay shoot in clear lake i believe on june 25th. its put on by the union sportsman alliance. only catch here not getting into the politics of things is you need to be affiliated with a union organization. if theres interest i can get more acurate info.

the best part of the horse and hunt is when your done you can go in get a something to eat and cold beer in that nice clubhouse they have. i would have to agree that they have one of the most complete clubs around. challengin courses completely automated.. even with timed releases so you can practice by yourself.
