700-plus spring turkey licenses remain in ND
March 07, 2012 at 11:51 AM

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota’s Game and Fish Department says more than 700 spring wild turkey hunting licenses remain after the lottery drawing.

Licenses will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis starting Thursday. Only North Dakota residents are eligible to apply.

The governor’s proclamation allows a maximum of two licenses, and hunters who did not apply in the first drawing also are eligible. More information can be found at http://www.gf.nd.gov .

The spring  :Turkey: season opens April 14 and runs through May 20. Game and Fish made just under 5,800 license available. :Turkey:

Can non residents obtain a tag to hunt ND?  As much as I love deer hunting in Minnesota, a friend and I have plans to hit Minnesota, Wisconsin and hope to hunt Merriams in ND Or SD in the near future.  I have only hunted Easterns and would enjoy breaking the neck of a different sub species...thanks for the info!

Sorry SouthernG&F  ND is resident only for Turkeys.  Except on the Indian Reservations... the turkeys on StandingRock(main reservation with turkeys) though are all Easterns not Merriams.  SD though you can get a NR turkey tag, Black Hills for Merriams.  Good luck, one of these days Im going to try Florida for one of your Oceolas.. have gotten the others.

thanks for the info! I have never killed a true florida turkey (I hunt north fla so they are still Easterns) but have access to a prime ranch just south of Orlando.  Maybe we can team up on 'em some time.
