I took a stroll around the area looking where others were set up and also to look for deer sign.  Found several stands and also found a very nice scrape line originating at a small ceder swamp that didn't have any deer stands in the area. I also found this illegal stand on state land.  Pretty sure cement footings are a no go on any public land.

Sad. But ive seen it plenty before too. I live near alot of public land and some people seem to think that they have their own part of the woods to themselves. It makes hunting some of that public land a little sketchy unfortunately because you never know what kind of person is sitting in that stand.

the sad thing is that it all depends on what type of public land your wandering about on. state land is different from tax foreit which is different from federal which is different from school trust which is different from whatever I'm forgetting.  give the local dnr guy a call. they need to make one rule on stands on public land and let it be the law. not each chunk has it's own standards. good luck this weekend
