On sunday I decided to sit with my mother in her big box blind.  It was about an hour before sunset when ma spotted a deer coming to the opening in the fence.  She was very excited because she knew it wasn't a fawn.  I slowly slid the window open for her and tried to calm her down a bit.  She was like a 5 year old at Christmas.  She poked the barrel of the gun out the window and found the doe in the scope but it was behind a tree.  She had her gloves on yet so i told her to slip them off.  While she did that the deer took a few steps into an opening. She pulled the hammer back and took a deep breath to settle her nerves. I watched as she slowly put her finger on the trigger and touched off the shot.  Her aim was true and the doe dropped on the spot.  She shouted "I got her, I got her"  It was her first deer in 12 years.  It was a great experience to be sitting with her.  She loves hunting deer and being in deer camp.  She didn't start hunting until she was 45 and hasn't missed a season since.  Here are a few pictures.

That awsome its not always about the hunt its also about the people you share it with and the memories you make along the way.

It is always nice to see mulit-generational groups share success in anything and especially hunting. Keep up the traditions.

Heading back up Friday.  Parents come home yesterday and picked up my 12 year old nephew who has yet to shoot a deer.  We have 6 to 8 does and fawns coming to the food plots every night so hopefully he gets his first deer.  This will also be his first time hunting up north.  Hopefully we have more pictures to share.
