ANyone tried fishing the open water created by an aeration system?

I have fished in between the aeration systems and the thin ice signs and had good success for panfish I fished about 30 yards from the open water but be sure to check ice thickness

I believe it is illegal to fish inside the signs.  But i could be wrong
