Burntside Lake conditions.

This has been a long winter, as good fishing has not been the norm.  The opening 10-14 days of trout season were pretty good, then the slump began.  Trout have been very lethargic, with only a few being caught.  The slow bite doesn't seem to be just on Burntside, but every other lake and includes most other species.  Fish just are not biting.
After the last snowfall and high winds, most lakes are snowmobile or tracked ATV travel ONLY. If you do decide to come up for the last 9 days of trout fishing, do not try to drive your truck 4x4 off any plowed road (and there are not many now that the fish houses were taken off last Monday) or you're in for the shoveling experience of your life.
Call the shop on Thursday or Friday morning (9-noon) for a thourough lake report because it can't all be included on the forum.  With these conditions, we are only keeping the shop open for a few hours on those days.
Wish I could give you a more uplifting report, but it is what it is!

From the looks of it, there is a good possibility of the lakes still being ice covered by the opener.
