The BIG fish are active and the walleye fishing is on FIRE!!  Reports of charter boats catching 100 fish.  One boat caught 40 fish over 28 inches!!  Most anglers are anchored up and jigging in the Rainy River and 4 Mile Bay.  Gold, glow and chartreuse have been hot jigs with a frozen shiner.  Most fish had just spawned.  The Rainy River did not disappoint.

The northern pike have turned on in Zippel Bay.  Multiple trophy pike over 40" caught.  The go to method is dead bait, a cisco or smelt on a quick strike rig under a bobber.  Fish are even being caught off of the docks.

We anticipate the lake ice will go off this week, but only mother nature can determine that.  For lodging, try our lodging availability request form at www.lakeofthewoodsMN.com.  This will be an incredible week of fishing at Lake of the Woods!
