    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
Well the drought has broken around Pierre with three days of wet rainy weather but it sure didn't slow down the fishing. I guided Ken Shawyer his wife Dolores and their friends Bill Lucero and wife Louise to two days of great fishing. We fished one day on Oahe catching full 32 fish limits of walleye (8 each) and then on Monday went down to West Bend on Sharpe catching their limits of 16 walleye (4 each) and a 20 fish limit of small mouth bass (5 each). Three of there bass were over 4 lbs. qualifying them for Proud Angler awards. On Oahe we caught the fish using bottom bouncer minnow rigs in anywhere from 4 fow to 10 fow and stayed with the same presentation on Sharpe catching the walleye in around 20 fow and most of the bass in 5 to 10 fow. These couples were from Oregon so a little rain didn't bother them. Some real troopers and they stuck out some showers to go home with a full cooler full of fish. They were real nice couples and I had a great time guiding them. The fishing on Oahe is going all the way from the Dam to Mobridge with limits of walleye the norm for most accomplished anglers. The fish seem to be healthy with an occasional stressed fish turning up. As the bigger female fish get over the spawning period it will be interesting to see if they get stressed due to lack of bait fish or if they will stay healthy. I am seeing bait fish around in the area's I am fishing so hopefully the latter will happen. Northern Pike, Smallmouth and a few Crappie continue to be bonus fish in most bags. Salmon Fishing is below average.
