    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
I guided repeat customers Dale Hanna and his wife Sandy for two days of fishing on Lake Sharpe. Just a great couple and I always look forward to fishing with them. We put limits of nice walleye along with a nice trout in the boat both days throwing good numbers of fish back. We kept a 17 to 18 inch avg. size walleye both days and spent almost the entire time fishing by ourselves except when we took a quick run through a community spot or two just to see what size fish were around. We fished in around 6 fow to 10 fow using both Berkeley gulp on bouncers and crawlers on bouncers. I think the gulp was the most productive but the crawlers worked too. Lake Oahe continues to put out fish but the overall avg. size fish coming in favor's Sharpe most days. A real unusual year for me guiding as in a normal year I spend most of the time on Oahe in the summer month's. Because of the numbers of smaller fish in the big lake I have found myself down on Sharpe more often. This isn't all bad as the size of the walleye is very good this year on the smaller of the two reservoirs. The fishing is very good again on Sharpe as the water got a lot cleaner after the storms passed through. As long as the corps runs the right amount of water limits are the norm. Community spots are all putting out fish but if that isn't your style of fishing the fish are coming out of the weed lines up river and you can catch real good numbers along just about any weed line that has current close by if bait is present. There is a good bug hatch going on but in some area's it actually gets the fish feeding more.
