After years of thinking and planning about it, I'm going to go ahead and build it.  For years I wanted to have a storage shed at my land but just never got around to it.  Well, the time for thinking and planning is over and now some action is required.  I have the spot picked out, of course it will require removing some brush and tree limbs along with leveling the ground and adding 4-5 inches of class 5.  I looking at a 16X24 building with an 8X24 lean to.  Windows, service door and overhead door will be required.  I will try to keep this updated as things progress.

Make sure to have a couple of windows that will be the right height for shooting out of. Great late season muzzy stand.  Is there going to be power and water?  Sleeping area. You never know it could double as your dog house for when the  :queen2: gets mad at you for spending to much time hunting and fishing.

or... drop one of those steel shipping containers and call it the day. run ya about 3500-4k depending.. but you never have to worry about a break in

Or go all the way and do one of those combo pole barn/cabins..there are a lot of them in the Dakotas used for both storage and hunting camp!

All good suggestions.  No water or power as I am 1.5 miles from the nearest power line.  For pure storage, a container would be fine but it's a poor shelter if it raining. (sorta like being in a coffin).
It could potentially have bunks and heat but not for now.  Also, the tax man loves it when you build a living space so if it's just a shed.....

when i first purchased my place the guy had a 16 foot trailer with half a shelter built around it.. i thought how stupid. then we rebuilt the shack .. taxes doubled.. again i thought how stupid.  we have no power/water. i keep threatening a sand point well i just never get around to it.

Phase 1.  Remove old storage shed (8x8 fish house), clear brush and cut low tree limbs.

This is the site prior to clean up.

I don't think I will miss the old storage shed.

Ready for phase 2.

Deadeye, since I feel so guilty about not fishing this year in the challenge I feel I owe you. I have quite a window selection over here. It may or may not cost you some time that involves a small hunt. Buildings are  my forte so if you have any questions you know how to reach me. I must warn you though the last mno member that I donated a window to left the site forever over some silly feral cat relocation post.

Thanks for the offer.  I have windows lined up.  Also, several years ago I helped a friend replace his 9 foot garage door with a 16 footer.  I keep the 9 footer and plan to use it here.

Class 5 is now down and leveled.  Plan to put up the shed on Monday.

Yes, that is a tractor and baler in the background.

Day One.
Not without issues, some of the stuff made it there.  Only problem was not enough trusses and it didn't get there until 2 pm.

Galvanized joists in place and deck partly on.

Finished deck/floor

Day Two
The remainder of the shed arrived. Again not with out issues.  The missing 4 trusses came but were built incorrectly.  The windows were not insulated glass.  No roofing paper.  And, drum roll please, the delivery truck backed onto a stack of wall panels (these are made off location) and broke two of them.

Walls are up.

Setting Trusses

View of overhang on front of shed.

Day Three.

All trusses up, sheeting on roof.  There will be 6x6 posts supporting the overhang.

There was a little thunder, but nobody got to go until the shed was weathered in.

Day four.  Spent most of the day sitting and cooking brats under the overhang as the rain poured down. Didn't get enough done to warrant a picture.

Corny, judging from the deer I've seen on deadeyes land they are all to big to hang from the porch. Deadeye grows them big.
