Ice Report:  The Rainy River is completely open.  4 Mile Bay is partially open.  Lake still ice covered.  With northern pike season open all year on LOW, the bite for ice anglers is good. Tip up fishing 4-10' at Morris Point, Swift Ditch or Graceton Beach.  Live sucker minnow or dead bait on quick strike rig the ticket.  ATV traffic only.

On the Rainy River, open water all the way to Wheeler's Point into 4 Mile Bay. Catch and release sturgeon through April 23, with the keep season April 24-May 7 and then catch and release again May 8 - 15.  Anglers doing well around deep holes and current seams. Circle hooks fished on the bottom with 50/50 frozen shiners and crawlers doing best. Timber Mill Park access in Baudette open to all boats. Wheeler's Point access clear with very little shore ice.  Walleye opener May 10th.  Last year's opener in river, bay and into the lake was excellent.  For lodging info, www.LakeoftheWoodsMN.com.

Up at the NW Angle, lake still ice covered with lots of melting taking place.  A few anglers still ice fishing for pike.
