Great results from the walleye opener this weekend. An abundance of limits, slot, and trophy walleyes.  The Rainy River, 4 Mile Bay, the Lighthouse Gap and in front of Pine Island to Morris Point all did well 4-13 feet. Use bright colored jigs tipped with minnow.  The bite is hot and the fish are in shallow.

Northern pike are still in bays. Fish weed beds in 4 Mile Bay or Zippel Bay.  Crankbaits, spoons or still fishing with dead bait all working.

On the Rainy River, walleye fishing hot! North of Baudette heading towards the Gap all good. Good success anchoring near adjacent rivers and bays. Orange or orange/white the best colors tipped with minnow. Sturgeon season is catch and release until May 15th.  Clementson Rapids producing good numbers, or try deep pockets anywhere along river. Crawlers and frozen shiner mix on a 5/0 circle hook with 4 oz no roll sinker still best.  For a complete list of resorts and charters, www.LakeoftheWoodsMN.com/lodging.
