Back before SUV's and man made weather there were severe weather changes.  One of the top 20 and 2nd in severity recorded in Minnesota history was Armistice(tomorrow)  day 1940.  I have read articles about this day since I was a kid.  The conditions were perfect for duck hunting.  What I read is the hunting was spectacular.  The birds came in waves.  Unfortunately only minutes before the weather.  The temps dropped and hunters were caught off guard because of the mild morning temps.  Many died of exposure or drowning due the the high winds and leaving too late.  The ones that survived recounted stories of burning their gun stocks for warmth.  This happened in 1940. Exactly 74 years ago tomorrow.

If I still drove a Chevy I'll still be worried about being stranded.

My grandfather who had a small dairy in Corcoran strung a rope between the house and the barn fearing that if he let go of the rope he might not find his way to the house or the barn and be lost in the storm. The house and barn were probably only 100 feet apart.
