                      Vehicle breaks through ice, sinks in Pelican Lake

 A vehicle broke through the ice at 7:10 a.m. Thursday on Pelican Lake southwest of Gooseberry Island, reported the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office. A vehicle broke through the ice at 7:10 a.m. Thursday on Pelican Lake southwest of Gooseberry Island, reported the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office.




Sheriff Todd Dahl reminds people that no ice is ever safe and with the recent warm weather and lack of snow in the area, ice conditions can change daily. People should use caution when driving on lakes, even when there are well-established roads on the ice.

I grew up fishing Pelican... Fished that island alot, good area, but theres a spring on that side of that island... Very iffy when the ice isnt where it should be thickness wise.... Man, gotta know the lake when driving a truck on hard water!
