    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
I took the Mike Wiser family from Holdrege NE. fishing both on Oahe and down at West Bend on Sharpe with the first day on Oahe being a tougher bite and the 2nd day real good at the bend. We caught walleye in around 30 fow on the big lake using bottom bouncers and crawlers. We caught them shallow on Sharpe in 5 fow on the same presentation. We had to sit out a rain storm day two but after it blew thru fishing was good. The Wiser family was a nice bunch and we all had a great time. I would like to mention that they had bought a out of state family license on line and were unaware that this license limits the walleye catch to one limit of walleye per day for the whole family and one possession limit to take home so Mike bought a three day license extra so they could take home more fish. I wasn't sure myself about this limitation and am mentioning it because when you read the rules book it is a little hard to figure out. If you want to take fish home the family fishing license is not the way to go. Every one can fish but only 4 fish a day and 8 in possession is what the whole family can keep. There are plenty of flys/bugs around some days so wearing long pants and taking bug spray along in your boat can make for a more enjoyable time. Hot days mean lots of water also. There are plenty of fishermen around on both lakes on the weekends so if you can come over during the week it will get you some what out of the bigger weekend crowds.
