My grandson in the bean plot.  The deer are hitting the beans big time.

This is going to be an interesting plot.  Although some of it encroaches on my land, I did not plant it.  I do however own the property on two sides of this plot.  The woods you see in the above picture is mine as well as all the land to the right (open field).  I don't know where they intend to put stands for this plot but last year they did mention they would like to put one in the woods behind where my grandson is standing.  Hummmm.  They also wanted to plant my field in beans or corn. (I own the 80 acres to the east of the picture and it has 15 open acres.  12 in hay and 3 in Repairian Buffer.  It would cost me nothing as they would provide the seed and fertilizer and a local farmer would do the work.  Why you ask wouldn't I jump on this arrangement?

sounds like a recipe for disaster if things go south, give them an inch and they take a mile, then really hard to get them to change, I dont think Id wanna be in your shoes. but Im just speculating on your question, why wouldnt you jump at this arrangement. Good luck!

These people could just put stands in the filed if they wanted.  I'd work with them if it was me.

Boar,
I actually own land on three side of these guys so it's in their best interest to be on my good side.  Because of the way the woods is laid out, there is a piece of my land next to theirs that I let them hunt.  I told them they could hunt it but didn't want any stands built there.  I don't think there will be a problem with hunting the bean field as they do have some woods on the west side of the field. It's just not the best for deer travel etc.  Heck, I might just put up a stand  in my woods.   :rotflmao:

Boar,
I forgot to answer the question as to why I didn't want them to plant corn/bean in my field.  If it was just  the neighbors doing it, I would not have a issue.  However, they do not have the equipment and would rely on a local farmer to do the work.  The guy with the equipment (I called him a farmer but it more of a hobby farm as he works a normal job as well) lives at the beginning of our access road (2.5 miles from the pictured bean plot).  Here is the problem.  Once they asked him to work and plant the plot, he used that as an open invitation to "check" the plot when ever he wishes.  Last summer/fall I saw him and his family drive in with his wheeler or PU almost ever time I was out there.  He is simply "using" my land for his enjoyment.  I say my land because the last half mile before this plot is across my land.  Being he is doing "work" for my neighbor, I don't have much say in trying to keep him out.  I did tell the neighbor that this is the reason I don't want them to plant my field.  I know they told the guy (farmer) about my concerns regarding his constant use of our land.  I understand he desire to make the 5 mile round trip through some of the best wildlife viewing area around but I have noticed the deer have begun to avoid open fields in the evening because you can only chase them off so many times before the don't come back.

yup.. that's a slippery slope for sure. not to mention any closure of that door once it's open won't be a nice one and will have lots of hurt feelings.
