Vikings led NFL in arrests over past five years

   08/10/2015

 :reporter; .......
The Vikings are atop the NFL leaderboard in the dubious category of arrests over the past five years, according to one reporter's new tally.

Mike Rosenberg, a Seattle-based freelancer, tweeted a chart Monday of NFL players arrested since August 2010:

 :coffee: .......
Vikings players have been collared 18 times over that time, he found. That edges the Denver Broncos (16 arrests), and Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (13 each).

Around the NFC North, the Bears and Lions have each seen 11 arrests, while the Packers have had eight.

The Vikings' total was bolstered by a handful of repeats. Adrian Peterson, Everson Griffen, Chris Cook, Erin Henderson and Jerome Simpson all had multiple arrests in the past five years (the latter three are no longer with the team).

At the other end of the spectrum were the Houston Texans, with just one arrest in five years. Overall, an even 260 players have been arrested in 260 weeks, Rosenberg said.

If that sounds like a lot, consider that more than 2,800 players come to training camp each year (the count includes those who don't make the final cut). And not every arrest led to a criminal conviction -- Peterson, for instance, had a 2012 resisting-arrest charge dropped.

The totals also don't tell the whole story. The New England Patriots have had five arrests in five years, one of the lower numbers in the league -- but one of those was tight end Aaron Hernandez, who was eventually convicted of first-degree murder.

Hey Glenn... you notice a certain someone brought up the Vikings but I don't see any mention of a certain Chicago hockey player who is in the news and is dealing with the law
