I hit the Rush yesterday.? Water was very clear and the midges were in full swing.? I stood on a high bank and could see no less than 50 or so fish working.? Very cool.? Coulda sat there for longer than I did, but that woulda meant more beer.? Beer and fly fishing don't mix too well..."hick." ;D? Managed some on pupas and Griffiths.? Also took some good fish on #16 tan and olive BH scuds.
Long, fine leader and some strike putty about 8' up was the ticket.?
It was a great day to be out and my face is still warm today...forgot the sunscreen. :-[

dan, since we are lacking for fly fishermen until we get rolling strong here what do you say we help some people who basicly know nothing about fly fishing, but might be interested in picking up in the sport.
first off, take me. i have owned one fly rod. i basicly learned to cast. i then tried to apply this while sunny fishing. it worked, but i felt like an ox wearing boxing gloves.
it took a little getting used to.
what type of rod would the beginner be looking at purchasing to try his/ her hand at flyfishing? keeping in mind affordability, and ease of use.
secondly i have no idea what type of line to use. i know about how to tie on a mono leader because i remember that part. as far as baits/ flies, i haven't a clue.
can the beginner get instructional video as to the step by step into casting?
what can you tell me to point me in the right direction.
thanks in advance Dan, just get back to us when you can.

Hey, glad to be here!
Jiggle to the rescue! ;D
Hey, as long as yer asking...I do have some pointers for those that are getting into the fly fishing game.  I'm at home now and don't have access to articles, but in the morning I'll post an article that I wrote on the very same topic...how's that fer handy, eh?  Plus, as an added bonus, I'll include more crap than you'll ever need - or want - to know!
Man, I must be sleep deprived...getting goofy here!
