Vacation is scheduled for June and the family and I are going to Yellowstone.  We have a house booked in Moran Wyoming which is in the Teton national park.  What are some activities that are can't miss?  Wife has already nixed a white water rafting ride.

dakids,
Last year I went to Yellowstone with the family.  It was a great trip.  We stayed in a house in West Yellowstone which is near the west entrance.  I believe the advantage here is it's only miles from the main "grand loop" that you use for most Yellowstone attractions.  Moran is about 50 miles or more from this area of Yellowstone.  We spent three days in Yellowstone each day checking out a different area.  We went in late May and the roads were just opened.  I don't know when you plan to go in June, but it's possible you may not be able to get to Yellowstone from Moran due to road closures.
Tell your wife it's a BIG mistake to not go white water rafting.  I told her she did not have to go on the mountain Zip line adventure if she went rafting. It was a highlight of the trip.  Late spring run off had the section of river we went on running high and fast.  It was a blast.

Calmer waters, grandson gives thumbs up... He didn't know
what was to come down river.

Here he is as the "boat ornament"  Face first into the rolling water

Was it scary, hell yes! However, nothing but big smiles after making
it through each set of big rapids

If going Whitewater rafting in early-mid june with run off water, beg borrow or steal a Wet suit even a shorty one to wear under your clothes....  man that can get really cold.  Don't push mama if she doesn't want to go, I took my kid (20 years ago) on the Upper Yellowstone in early June great Rapids, Great time, we hit a rock and the boat scissored and shot me about 15' in the air into the water.  No problem with me but this Lady behind me totally freaked, I had to help rescue her we had to drag her into the boat.  The rest of the trip she layed in the fetal position whimpering that her kids (Along) were going to die.. We went every summer for about 5 years....  did some trout fishing on the side always fun...  Eric and I were going to hike up Slough creek to fish for Cutthroats one trip but found the trail closed as a Park Ranger had become Bear bait two days before...  Get the flyrod out and start practicing casting!!!

corny13,
We went at the end of May.  Yes, the water was fast and cold however, all the rafting places have wet suits and fleece vests for their guests.  We also went on the Yellowstone river just outside the north entrance. If you go, find a place that has smaller boats so it's just your family in the boat.  We had just the 5 of us and the guide.  I still say, do not miss this adventure.

One of our all time favorite family vacations. And I can't remember the names of anything - but my wife will.
Whitewater rafting - fabulous (I suspect the intensity can vary from year to year). They will fill you in degree of difficulty at the time and I would think anything through a class 3 would be thrilling but not really dangerous.
Great hiking.
I love where we stayed, I believe it was at the north end of Yellowstone Lake. Nothing fancy and very reasonably priced with a really great old lodge close by. Taught my kids how to play cribbage there.
Best wildlife viewing of any of the parks I have been to.

Heading out later today.  Planning on white water rafting.   Kids are excited to do it as well.  Not much else planned other than old faithful.  Relax and enjoy ourselves.  I'll post pictures as we go.

All the small boat trips were booked so we ended up on a big boat.  Which didn't eliminate any excitement.   In the 1st big rapids we hit the guide had the boat surfing in the eddie.  We ended up turning sideways in the river and we were pulled back up stream by rhe current, which caused the boat to tip at a 45 degree angle.  Sierra and Terrell both fell overboard.  Terrell was close enough so we yanked him out but Sierra was in the middle of the eddie.   She tried swimming out but the current pulled her under for what seemed like 10 seconds.  Scared the crap out of me.  She pops up and starts swimming to the boat. The big guys up front pull her out and all was good. She had a HUGE smile on her face.  Most adrenaline I've felt in my life.  The trip was the best and easily the highlight of our trip
