Last weekend grouse opened....has anybody been out or seen numbers of birds? I have not seen any here since bow hunting started.

I was mowing trails yesterday and bumped into a few.  They didn't fly, just moved off the trails so I wouldn't chop them to bits.

Really really looking forward to bring the wife and pooch up to the north country for a grouse hunt. How do you guys think the leaves will be on the trees in 3 weeks?

Leaves are still full here in central minnesota, beans are brown and the corn has little green. In 3 weeks,  if it stays on track....all leaves would be dropped for the most part.

Looking to head up north of Duluth.  The summer months dew were on Norway but in the cities mostly.  Thanks for the input, brought the wife last year and she had a blast even though she never fired a shot ( her excuse was too many trees in the way..lol).

I'd say there should be a fair amount of leaves down I was in both Duluth and Itasca county last weekend. Sine leaves are dropping but still alot left boobers! Neither place has had a frost yet

I did some walking for grouse man I need my back fixed.

Thanks 57!!! I can't put the map book down, checking different areas and getting the pooch pumped.  Should be fun.

Would've been on the road by now but slept in because of the rain. Making a big breakfast and will make our way up north soon.  :happy1:

Had a bunch fall,at our place, on Monday & Tuesday before we left as it was pretty windy. Personally I think a frost, some moisture, some wind, & they'll all come down at the same time.

Pretty tough going in the northeast, managed a few but it was really quiet.  Could have been the sleety drizzly weather, but nonetheless it's always fun getting out. Still some good color on the trees but it won't be long and they'll be down.

Will be watching this thread closely this season as Duncan and I will not be able to hunt. The only thing I can hope for is some stupid grouse to wander into my back yard! Hey it has happen before  :coffee:
