I think I found a meteorite yesterday.  While hunting I decided to use a metal detector to look for a clip my son lost while deer hunting.  He had placed it on the back of the Argo and forgot about it.  While searching near the swamp edge where we drove, I got a solid hit and thought it had to be the clip. This was in an area that would have been very unlikely that anyone had ever walked there.  Using an ax I brought in case it was under the ice, I chopped and dug out a few inches of muck but it was still lower.  Now I couldn't imagine how it could have gotten pushed more than just below the surface, but I dug down about 6-8 inches and hit something small and hard.  It wasn't the clip but I did come up with what to me looks like a meteorite.  It's just a bit larger than a base ball, very ruff surface, pockmarked, and a magnet will readily adhere to it.  Doesn't resemble any rock I have ever picked on the farm (and I certainly picked my share).  Any ideas?  Anyone know of some one or place that can check it out for me?

Metal detecting is really fun. You never know what and where some fun stuff will appear. Once found two coins dated 1604 (gold) and 1610 (silver) respectively on a no where river bank.  Meteorites are usually really iron laden. good luck with your million dollar find
