Still under contract for this year right? They could always offer him less money after this season. Hope they don't.

I read an article about this. yes they didn't pick up his option. it would of been worth 18 mil. and I think it had something to do with a garuntee for injuries. they where going to possibly work out a deal for less money with some assurance he could play again.

there not quite thrown him completely to the curb............just yet. sucks to see this happen to a young guy with potential!!!!!

Hate to see him hurt. But I hope they don't keep him after this year.

My understanding is they have until either tomorrow or Wednesday to make the call on whether they will toll his contract extension. By tolling it they will place him on the PUP list for next year and his 5th year contract extension will be re-evaluated for the 2018 season if he is cleared to play again.

lots of moving pieces here, I'm sure in large part it depends on how Bradford does. This upcoming season is year 2 of his 2 year contract. I'm sure after next year they will evaluate Bradfords numbers over 2 seasons against Teddy's injury prognosis and make the decision. I know Teddy is a big favorite with his teammates, with Zimmer, and with management. I worry about Spielman as that guy doesn't know what loyalty is sometimes. I think Zim is the kinda guy to stick his neck out for Teddy but in reality, Zim's opinion is pretty far down the totem pole.

I know Teddy B is kinda polarizing among Vikes fans...was he the answer, or a topped out kid who just played okay? Looks like we very well may never know... I'll never claim he would have been the next Brady or Rodgers but this is just a damn shame. I know preseason is preseason, but if you watched last years preseason and didn't think he was making HUGE strides in pocket presence, the deep ball, and using his legs, you weren't paying attention...

My bigger issue is Bradford is a "fully cooked egg" so to speak, we knew what we were getting in him. Who knows where Teddy would have been at age 28 (Bradfords age now) had this injury not happened... Id rather have a halfway promising young pup I could coach up a bit than a mediocre to decent old dog.

Not sure how many college football fans are on here but man, I hope we get the next Louisville phenom, Lamar Jackson on our squad. Now THAT would finally be some exciting quarterback play! I almost hope we tank it for a great 1st rounder next year, theres no way we're making a deep playoff run this year (or even MAKING the playoffs) so it's frustrating to see us flounder around aimlessly and not even get compensated for it in the form of a draft pick...

I really like Teddy.  Great with the team and a real stand up guy off the field.  He also had a bad offensive line just like Bradford has had.  Super potential to be a top rated QB.  Hope he makes it back, but the NFL is a buisness and they do what they have to do.  good luck.

I agree completely RH.  Hope he makes a complete recovery and I am sure that is what the Vikes need to be sure of also before dropping many millions on him.

Agreed to all.

In addition to scrambling around behind a lackluster line, he also had to share a backfield with Adrian Peterson, and we had no passing attack to speak of. What that means for a rookie QB is you will be facing at least 8 in the box every snap, behind a bad line. Honestly I'm surprised it took this long for Teddy to get hurt. He didn't even have the luxury of quick slants out of the shotgun, because King Peterson refused to run out of anything but the old BS power - I.
